WASHINGTON – Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) issued the following statement after voting to support a bipartisan agreement on an economic stimulus plan to spur economic growth and invigorate a slowing economy:
“I continue to be encouraged by the efforts of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to move swiftly on an economic stimulus package that puts money back into the hands of West Virginia families.
“Today’s vote is important because it provides a targeted tax rebate for low and middle income West Virginian’s, creates incentives for business investment to spur job growth, and implements reforms at the Federal Housing Administration that support homeowners struggling with their mortgage.
“The House took the first step today, and now we look to the Senate for further action. I encourage my Senate colleagues to continue the bipartisan dialogue that we’ve seen in the House and quickly pass a bill that puts money back into the hands of the American people.”
