Economy, Jobs and Taxes
Expanding job opportunities for West Virginians is Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito’s top priority in Congress. From standing up for our state’s energy sector to supporting job training programs for West Virginia workers, Shelley is working to improve employment opportunities across our state.
Reining in federal spending is a vital part of improving our nation’s economy. Just as families across America follow household budgets, Congress must set priorities that reflect the values of families across West Virginia. Shelley has voted for a budget resolution that would balance within 10 years, and she believes that we must get our nation’s fiscal house in order to leave a secure fiscal legacy for our children and grandchildren.
Shelley also believes in a low-rate tax system that fosters an environment for economic growth and brings certainty to the marketplace. She has worked hard to ensure that American individuals, families and small businesses will not be hit by job-killing tax increases.
Shelley also believes in reforming our tax code, as the current system is outdated, inefficient, too complex, and difficult to administer. Comprehensive tax reform will strengthen our economy by making the tax code fairer, simpler, and flatter. A system that spurs greater investment, innovation and job creation will make West Virginia workers and businesses more competitive and create opportunities in our state.
