WASHINGTON – Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) released the following statement after voting to approve a final version of a bipartisan stimulus package:

“The swift passage of an economic stimulus measure is a testament to what can be accomplished with bipartisan agreement,” noted Capito.  “I was encouraged by the Senate’s swift action and the willingness of both parties to come together to form a productive final package that puts money back in the hands of the American people. 

“This agreement ensures that West Virginia families – including seniors and disabled veterans on fixed income – will see targeted tax relief and important incentives to promote business investment and drive job growth.  This package also implements important reforms to support homeowners struggling amidst the mortgage crunch.

“West Virginians asked for swift action to forestall an economic slowdown and this bipartisan agreement has delivered.  I encourage the President to quickly sign this legislation into law.”
