Letter from Shelley
Friends and Colleagues,

If there is one thing the people of our country can agree upon, it is the need to give the best healthcare to our veterans - especially those who return wounded from the battlefield.
Recent news reports have revealed extremely troubling examples of how our system has failed some of our wounded soldiers - specifically, those who were rehabilitating in the now infamous Building 18 at the Walter Reed medical facility in Washington, DC.
Earlier this week, I joined a small group of my colleagues in making a visit to Walter Reed, where we toured a number of the facilities - including Building 18 - and had the opportunity to speak with some of the men and women receiving care at the facility, as well as some of those who are providing care and operating the facility.
I am pleased to report that immediate action has been taken to correct the terrible problems at Walter Reed. As steps are being taken to correct the problems, we must broaden our focus on continuing to improve the quality of care for our wounded warriors not only at Walter Reed, but those around the country.
It is critical that we examine all of our veterans and military health care facilities to ensure similar problems don't exist. Each of these facilities must provide the best in care for those who are in need now as well as those who will need treatment and care in the years to come.
This is an issue that I am closely monitoring and will continue to do so. Please look to future email updates for more information on this important issue.
Have a nice weekend and a great
St. Patrick's Day!
Sincerely,

Member of Congress

Capito Rejoins Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure
WASHINGTON - Rounding out her Congressional committee assignments, Congresswoman Capito reclaimed her position on the House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure earlier this week. The appointment, approved on Monday by the full House, is Capito's second committee assignment this year after being appointed to the Committee on Financial Services in January.
Upon receiving the news, Capito stated: "I am extremely happy to be rejoining the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee. Throughout my tenure in Congress, I have worked to maximize the amount of federal assistance West Virginia has received to improve the safety and usability of our highways and roads."
