Capito: Americans Don't Need a Lecturer-in-Chief, They Need a Leader

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (WV-02) released the following statement today following President Obama’s speech at Knox College in Illinois.

“Over the years, President Obama has proven to Americans that they can rely on him to deliver a speech.  However, given his sinking approval ratings, he has also proven to them that he can’t lead.  Americans don’t need a lecturer-in-chief, they need a leader.  Under President Obama’s watch, our economy has been sluggish and trillions of dollars have been added to our nation’s debt.  And while the president continues to talk about his desire to create jobs, the House has been taking action.  We have been focused on job-creating initiatives that will help hardworking families and get Americans back to work.

“While the president continues to give redundant speeches about destroying our nation’s hopes of becoming energy independent and calling for more stimulus spending, the House has remained focused on jobs.  This week, the House will consider the Coal Residuals Reuse and Management Act and the Energy Consumers Relief Act, which will protect American jobs and our nation’s vital energy industry.”
